A coastal winter storm in New England goes by many names…Nor’easter, Bomb Cyclone, Blizzard, whatever you call it, we’ve got one headed our way.
Here are some simple easy tips to stay safe this weekend or in any winter storm that makes its way to us.
*Be prepared. Have your shovels, snow blowers, ice melt, ice scrapers, gas and emergency power supplies ready.
*Stay HOME and off the roads. This is the easiest and safest way to keep yourself safe, and to allow the highway crews, police, fire and other safety equipment can respond to emergencies, clear the roads and parking lots.
*Don’t overexert yourself when outdoors in the winter. A peer-reviewed study published in 2010 according to USA TODAY estimated that nearly 200,000 people were treated in emergency rooms for snow-shoveling-related incidents from 1990-2006. Lower back injuries, heart attacks and soft tissue damage are all possible injuries.
*AVOID CARBON MONOXIDE POISENING-DO NOT USE GENERATORS AND GRILLS INDOOR OR NEAR WINDOWS. PLACE THESE ITEMS AT LEAST 20 FEET FROM THE HOUSE WITH EXHAUST DIRECTED AWAY FROM YOUR HOME WINDOWS AND DOORS.
Stay safe this weekend, and remember if you need us, We’re Here for You.
